After a brief drop to the lowly heights of the 8th Division, VC Montpellier is back on the rise. As is often the case, Division 4 and 3 rarely give enough hilly races for the team to maintain their position, so an occasional dip in rankings is to be expected.
Clearly this is an issue for other teams to have to contend with. In fact, it's quite obviously unfair for other teams. Out of the past 6 races VC Montpellier have started, the team has come away with 5 wins and one further podium. Wayne Slygh (a recent English debutee on the World Tour circuit) along with Valéry Charbonnier (with a couple of French TT World Tour races under his belt) have taken two victories apiece. Jaromír Paul, our previous out and out hilly leader took the latest victory just to prove he still can, whilst rounding out the results with a podium, Atwood Sainton (our aging all rounder) managed 3rd. It is perhaps worth noting that Arvydas Grazunas, another puncheur, took 6th behind Atwood. Yet more depth from the squad.
Being back in Division 4 however, does have it's difficulties. Already a challenge to get into races and find the ones to suit the team, it's only a matter of "when", and not "if", the team will have another seasonal dip.
As they say, life is like a rollercoaster.

I thought Lane Langevin was going to be my man for that, but I think he'll end up being yet another lead out man once I do find a sprinter.
And now is the time for a second captain. One who can sprint maybe
